FLATWORLDWORKS User Research

Flatworldworks has been working with the Government Digital Service (GDS) Accessibility team on development of their accessibility and usability testing expertise and also provided testing for a number of central government department exemplar programmes. Examples include: The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Access to Work, Carer’s Allowance, and Single Tier Pension Digital Transformational programmes; helping them to successfully pass their Government Digital Service Assessments.

Flatworldworks were able to ensure that such organisations meet their social and legal responsibilities in providing services that can be accessible and usable to widest possible audience.

Growth in smartphones, tablets, computers, and wearable devices has developed new needs for user experience. This has caused application designers to consider a holistic approach to delivery. Through a user-centered approach, our UX team are able to research, define and meet real 'user needs' when developing cross-channel experiences.

We offer a high specification, state-of-the-art research studio, designed to create the perfect environment for respondents and clients. This enables our clients to test their prototype and understand where the application could be improved, before going live.

Accessibility and Usability Testing

The main goal of our service is to ensure that the digital material produced or offered by your organisation is accessible to everyone regardless of ability. Flatworldworks accessibility service recommends taking the next steps beyond technical compliance with accessibility standards and guidelines to focus on the overall usability of your product or service.

This type of accessibility and usability testing provides the following benefits:

  • Increase your understanding of how people with disabilities use your website or application.
  • Maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Increase brand/organisation recognition.
  • Increase the number of site visitors.
  • Improve the experience for all users – usability improvements geared towards users with disabilities often provide benefits to all users.

  • Flatworldworks are currently looking for individuals or groups to take part in specific research that will help to inform and improve various public services.
  • Participants will be required for a maximum research time of 1 hour.
